Food: Charlie Brown Cafe @ Straits Quay

It's the FIRST Charlie Brown Cafe in Malaysia! Can't you imagine that it's in Penang and not Kuala Lumpur? :D Woohhooo..... I was there last weekend with my mum. However, prior to that visit, I was told to go with low expectation and reading review from those who had went. For me, I like to experience it for myself at least once while they are still open for business.

The food is below average and the coffee is just okay only. Sad but this is my honest opinion. The only thing I love about the place is they put 101% all out for the decoration and branding. Go and give it a try. :)

Love how each table have different design. This is the design on the table we sat on.

It's for decoration purposes.

The souvenir shop is inside the cafe itself.

It's the counter where we order our food.

Orderd mushroom soup and pumpkin soup. Taste is below average for the pumpkin soup.

This is my caffe late. Just love the design.

The tartar sauce was good but the fish was okay only.

This is the worst pasta seafood I ever tasted. It's worst than drinking water. Hope they will improve.

Food: Chai Diam Ma @ Queens Street

Spotted another new CAFE in town! It's non other than Chai Diam Ma (in hokkien means sundry shop). They had just recently opened in Queens Street. It's a one way street and you won't miss it, as it is on your left hand side. It's a small cozy place but love the handcraft that is display there for sale and the home cooked food too.

Love the homely layout of the place. Some of the things used there are recycled stuff. It's for the environment. All the things displayed there are handmade. I got a few things there showing my support for the local artist.

The place is not air con but they do provide fans to chill the place down. It reminds me of my childhood. The menu is limited but it's delicious. According to the owner, Queen Lee, they changed the menu almost on daily basis. Do take note that they are closed on Tuesday.

I personally recommend this place..... :)

Food: Weissbräu German Cuisine

My second visit to Strait Quay and was there to have dinner with my girlfriends. The place is still brand new and not much changes from my first visit. I was looking forward to catch up with both my lovely friends; Peky and Jonie. Both of them have passion for photography as well and their shots are simply amazing. Just follow them at their blogs and website to check it out.

For dinner, we decided to try something new which non of us had. So we end up choosing Weissbrau which is a German Cuisine. If you enter the building from the centre, turn to your left and you won't miss it.

As we walk near the the door, we were greeted by the waiter. He was asking us if we would prefer indoor or outdoor. Outdoor will have nice view but there wasn't any wind. So we decided to take indoor as we were all sweating. It's a very nice place with the Christmas decoration and I took a few pictures of the place; the bar, tables and chairs.

Once we were all seated, we were served with the menu. We were all browsing it high and low but didn't know what to go for. Thus, to make it easier, we decided to call three different course and share among ourselves. I think it's still new or the pantry was not fully packed yet, the pork knuckles that we wanted to try was out of stock :( No choice we had to other other stuff and I eventually forgotten the name. But no worries.. I had some pictures taken!

Food ordering process was longer than ever as some of the food are not available from the menu.

Photography time while waiting for the food to be cook!

Our Jonie Lim with her lovely Canon G10. Lovely shots taken by her and her toy. She is always so sweet with her smile.

That's my candid shot of Peky! She was busy playing with her new toy - iPhone 4. The entire night we were busy exchanging apps and talking about iPhone 4 and the amazing apps. Welcome to iPhone world... We are now hoping that someday near future, Jonie can join us too.

That is our caesar salad with salmon.

Don't recall the name of this dish. Didn't really like it as it was over cooked! Too hard.

It's German sausage but it's too salty! :(

Honestly, I don't think I would go back again until I try Ingolf in it's restaurant. Tasted it's German sausage during the Octoberfest and love it!.

Food: Soul Kitchen

Last weekend, I was out with Tammy on a mission to check out a few places for good photography session. Unfortunately, it was drizzling and we went for brunch instead after that. But we couldn't decide where to go until Tammy said that why don't we try Soul Kitchen which is located at Muntri Street. The place serves breakfast, lunch and dinner too. We were there about 10:30am so it's still breakfast! :)

The place looks cozy and eventually it was packed with foreigners and locals too. Oh not forgetting, it's FREE Wifi! We even tweet and foursquare while waiting for our food and drinks. In between, we took some random shots here and there.

The above is the drinks menu and for breakfast, I ordered American Breakfast. It's yummy if you are a person who don't like salty food. Below are my breakfast and latte.

Besides that, that is their Christmas menu - Snowflakes's Menu and Mistletoe Menu (Approx RM48).

And that is the no 102 of Soul Kitchen's address.  So it's 102, Muntri Street, 10200 Penang, Malaysia.
Opening hours are from 10am to 3pm and 6pm to 9pm. And they can be contacted at 04-2613118 or 6012-5943522. Kindly look for Michele or Tonio.

I am not sure how's the place and condition on a HOT day but I was there on a cold morning so it was just perfect! It's a nice place to hang out with your friends and just chill over a simple nice meal and drink. I will surely go back again to try out the lunch or dinner menu.

On the same street, go down further and you might want to try MoonTree47. :) (Updated 15 March 2011)
