On New Year Eve 2011

As usual, I am stuck in the office during festival season. 2011 is going to end in a few hours before we usher in 2012. I thank God for this wonderful 2011 and looking for His guidance in 2012.

DOMO-kun

My latest new collection for photography is DOMO-kun. I fall in love with this character after seeing my friend, See Mei, taking pictures with it. I got my inspiration from her and her pictures. Let me share with you some of my latest collections.

If I Had My Life to Live Over

By Erma Bombeck
(Written after she found out she was dying from cancer.)

I would have gone to bed when I was sick instead of pretending the earth would go into a holding pattern if I weren't there for the day.

I would have burned the pink candle sculpted like a rose before it melted in storage.

I would have talked less and listened more.

I would have invited friends over to dinner even if the carpet was stained, or the sofa faded.

I would have eaten the popcorn in the 'good' living room and worried much less about the dirt when someone wanted to light a fire in the fireplace.

I would have taken the time to listen to my grandfather ramble about his youth.

I would never have insisted the car windows be rolled up on a summer day because my hair had just been teased and sprayed.

I would have sat on the lawn with my children and not worried about grass stains.

I would have cried and laughed less while watching television - and more while watching life.

I would never have bought anything just because it was practical, wouldn't show soil, or was guaranteed to last a lifetime.

Instead of wishing away nine months of pregnancy, I'd have cherished every moment and realized that the wonderment growing inside me was the only chance in life to assist God in a miracle.

When my kids kissed me impetuously, I would never have said, "Later. Now go get washed up for dinner."

There would have been more of "I love you" and more "I'm sorry." But mostly, given another shot at life, I would seize every minute, look at it and really see it, live it...and never give it back.

Stop sweating the small stuff. Don't worry about who doesn't like you, who has more, or who's doing what. Instead, let's cherish the relationships we have with those who DO love us.

Let's think about what God HAS blessed us with. And what we are doing each day to promote ourselves mentally, physically, emotionally, as well as spiritually.

Life is too short to let it pass you by.

Other than Coffee

Lately, I am falling in love with yogurts. Not those yogurts that you get in the supermarket but those with choices of toppings. There are so many varieties now in Penang. It can be found in Queensbay Mall; J.Co Donuts & Coffee and Coffee Bean. Nearby Queensbay Mall; Tutti Fruiti which is also available at Island Plaza.

If you head over to e-Gate, the newly open Mieleyo Premium Frozen Yogurt. Tried it during the weekend and it is not bad but I still prefer Fruuze Frozen Yogurt at Straits Quay.

These are the ones I had personally tried them. I believe there are a few more new shops at other part of Penang. Well, will continue with my yogurt hunting again.

RIP Choo Tse Chien

It is exactly 2 years and 4 days I got to know Tse Chien and he passed away peacefully yesterday afternoon. He was a very humble, cheerful and helpful friend. I had learned so much from him through his passion on nature and bird photography. Will always cherish the sweet memories we had together. You will be missed dearly........ :(

His work can be viewed at Avian Naturescapes.

This was taken 18th July 2011 at Delicious @ Straits Quay. That was the last time I saw him.

Wondering in a wet market

Last weekend, I thought so something random and I did it. I took my mum to wet market in town and took some candid shots while I was there. Haven't been to a wet market for sometime now. It is really nice to walk down those wet and crowded lane. Brings back a lot of memories. When I was just a little girl, my granny used to bring me and my cousin there. We will travel there by trishaw. The three of us will have our breakfast there then granny will do her marketing before we head home. Those are the sweet memories I had with my granny.

Just being random with those pictures. It is nothing special but sometimes we take things for granted in life. Appreciate everything and every moment of your life as you never know what can happen the next second of your life.

Infographics: Is Anything Private on Your Phone Anymore?

I was reading and I saw this online article about our mobile phone privacy. To me, it is knowledgeable to know about it since mobile is a necessity to us these days.

Smartphones are one of the most popular phones that you and I are using. There are many ranges in the market. How exposes are we to privacy to these third party vendors of softwares? How much data are we giving out to them unintentionally? Will we stop using smartphones after knowing this? Guess not, right? But by knowing, we can be a smarter user and consumer too. Hope this article is useful to you. Have a great weekend ahead! :)

A few weekends ago, I went back to Amelia Cafe after a long long time. Was there during lunch and tried many dishes. They have redecorate the place and the layout is different from my last visit. Let me share some of the pictures I took this round.

For salad lovers out there, you must try the Avocado Salad! Personally, recommend by me! :P

Life is SHORT

Sorry for the missing in action from my blog. This year had been a great and challenging year for me. When I turned 30 beginning this year, I was told it is just a NEW beginning of my life and it is going to be filled with excitement. Oh well, I had to partially agree with that as I had been busy since January till now. It was all about work and hobby at the beginning of the year, then work and just work only.

June had been an emotional and challenging month for me as my mum's elder brother passed away suddenly. It was too sudden as he was not sick or anything. When we found out about his health, he was a walking time bomb. He had to go through an emergency open heart surgery in GH. However, he didn't make it out of the operating theater. I was one of the last few people in the family that got a glimpse and spend some time with him before he went to the OT the next day. :(

Life is just too short for us to take it for granted. We should cherish our family and friends while we are still on this earth. You can never know when it is your time. May you rest in peace, Uncle Seng. We all miss you so much.

Faithful Friends

It is really nice catching up with old friends. We have all known each other during our teens. Jo and Wilson will always be that special someone in my heart. During our teens, we see each other almost every weekend in church. The fun things we did together were simply amazing. Of course, there were more people in our gang. Just that everyone is out from Penang now. Jo is back from Melb for her younger brother's wedding. Gosh.. time does fly by...... everyone is getting married and settling down de. :)

Malaysia's Most Exclusive Online Shopping Club - HiShop.my

On weekdays, I spend most of my time online. I would either be facebook-ing or tweeting most of the time. Sometimes, I will be checking out for new restaurants or cafes in town. However, as I was browsing the web, I came across this youtube video about HiShop. I totally love the video cos I find it cute and interesting at some point. Check it out!

HiShop is a brand or shop name that I haven't come across on my tweeter timeline as well as facebook. So I decided to check them out for myself because all this while, I am a fan of Reebonz. I thought to myself, is it going to be another duplicate of Reebonz? For me, I still think pricing in Reebonz are too costly.

Then I was telling myself, HiShop must either have a better pricing or they will not be ahead of Reebonz which is in the market first. So I decided to sign up and start doing my own research about this company. To my surprise, it's quite similar but I kind of prefer HiShop more because it is more affordable and have better choice for mode of payment. This is the key point for making online shopping even better! :)

Screen shot taken from HiShop.my Website

HiShop.my offers different branded goods ranging from handbags and accessories, ready-to-wear garments and also home furnishing. The prices offered are up to 80% discount. At the point of time, the collections are still limited but I believe they will continue with more brands in the near future. Oh! The best part is, they assure the best price in town and also guarantees 100% authenticity.

Since I am a member now, I can also enjoy RM25 store credit if anyone of you will sign up using my referral code: alite Please help to key in the code so I can do some shopping with those credits! Thanks in advance! :)

It's a good way to shop ONLINE with the lowest pricing, avoiding all the hassle from one mall to another to make sure you get the best price from your shopping deals. Besides that, each sales is available from 3 to 5 days. This gives me enough time to think about it so that I won't rush into something I will regret later.

If you are not a person who will come online all the time, follow their tweets @hishopmalaysia. They will announce it each time they launch a new sales item so you won't miss it! :)

I am looking forward to more of their sales sessions and also their special collections that will be launching soon. Can't wait! Happy shopping from wherever you are! :)

Speaker: Derek Sivers

I took 2 days off to attend a conference that was very much related to my part time job and passion. It’s all about The New Media 2011. There were about 30 overs speakers from different backgrounds and experiences. I went there with an open mind and absorb as much as I can.

Some of the things that was shared by the speakers was really refreshing and motivating too. It does helped me to think differently for my next step in my career life. I have been constantly asking myself the same questions. It's been 5 years and do I still want to be here? What will be my next move? Where is it going to be?

After listening to so many speakers, I learned the most from this particular speaker as the things he shared was very much practical and doable too. He is Derek Sivers. He was sharing about his company, CD Baby, how he grew the company and then sold for 22 millions. What really opened my eyes was, he was the only person so far that said 22 million was just too much! He gave that to a charity unit trust funds to help to fund other musicians. Some of key things I learned from his sharing was; Start with something different, simple or common sense. If people don’t like it, stop it and don’t persist. Always stick with what you know and understand.

If you wish to know more about his sharing during the The New Media 2011 Conference, you can get the details from Yet Another Studio's Blog Post. For more info, visit his website or follow him on twitter

For the other speakers, the slides are available at here.

Food: Charlie Brown Cafe @ Straits Quay

It's the FIRST Charlie Brown Cafe in Malaysia! Can't you imagine that it's in Penang and not Kuala Lumpur? :D Woohhooo..... I was there last weekend with my mum. However, prior to that visit, I was told to go with low expectation and reading review from those who had went. For me, I like to experience it for myself at least once while they are still open for business.

The food is below average and the coffee is just okay only. Sad but this is my honest opinion. The only thing I love about the place is they put 101% all out for the decoration and branding. Go and give it a try. :)

Love how each table have different design. This is the design on the table we sat on.

It's for decoration purposes.

The souvenir shop is inside the cafe itself.

It's the counter where we order our food.

Orderd mushroom soup and pumpkin soup. Taste is below average for the pumpkin soup.

This is my caffe late. Just love the design.

The tartar sauce was good but the fish was okay only.

This is the worst pasta seafood I ever tasted. It's worst than drinking water. Hope they will improve.
