What I love about Social Media

Social Media don't even exist much if we mentioned it like 10 years ago but it's a trend and one of the hottest topic everywhere today! Many people have ask me this question, what do you like about social media? For me, it's about getting the latest topic and shared it with my family and friends via social media  tools such as twitter or facebook. Besides that, I get to expand my circle of friends. Up to date, I have 463 friends on Facebook (only less than 10% of people I haven't met in real life) and 460 followers on Twitter. 

Even if it is a new thing for most of you, Social Media has been a daily thing for me. I enjoyed tweeting and facebooking on daily basis such as updating my status and sharing the pictures I took. Besides that, I even enjoy Foursquaring. It's like a game where I get to collect my points and badges and also explore new shops in town! Other than that, you get good tips from other players too and specials from the business owner. 

Despite all that, I have won iPod Shuffle via twitter contest, a designer handbag for a friend via Facebook contest and also an iPhone app - paid version for FREE via twitter too. It's been a really fun time for me both on twitter and facebook. :D 

From all the above, I also use Social Media to conduct charity in March, 2010, which is known as Penang Twestival. At present, I am also volunteering for Social Media Club Penang. It's a non-profit organization to help to educate the public about social media and how it can help you in your personal life and businesses in general.

Tweetup with Jonathanfun

Yesterday was the Saturday that was booked in my calendar for a few weeks. It's a tweetup for Jonathanfun from Malacca who is currently working in Kluang. He was here over the weekend for some photography event. At the same time, he asked me to assist him with a tweetup with Penang Twitters! :-)

Before heading to Gurney, I picked Tammy up for dinner and since she is on vegetarian yesterday... We had dinner at Sri Ananda Bahwan. My first time there and I enjoyed my dinner.

The tweetup was suppose to be at 8pm Gurney Plaza and I had a few confirmation of attendance from Tammy Khoo, Jason Gan, Shoggy Teoh and family, Tjun Chye, Christines Teoh and Louis Quah. However, last min Louis could not make it was he was sick but we had CJ Tan and Jaine with us.

The entire night was an amazing tweet up! Besides that, the guys playing with their iPads and exchanging applications. Also not forgetting the candid shots too! :P












With that they came out with face impersonation using iPad applications and magazine too! Here are some of the pictures....

The time went by so fast and we left Gurney nearly close to 1am. The guys decided to have K session at OXO Cafelab. We headed there to have someone good times and all of them can sing! Melts my heart away......

Let me do so introduction... We have Kelvin Tan @ UncleBotak, myself and Mei Yen and we are labelled Sista. This picture was taken last evening at Winter Warmers @ QBM. First time for the stalker @ UncleBotak to meet Mei Yen. 

You can either label last evening as great tweet up, stalker meet up or dinner gathering but I must say it was FUN! I bet Mei Yen had a great time knowing UncleBotak and vice versa too. It's just amazing how people connect via twitter and facebook now. Thru these past months, I also believed that people who are actively on twitter are more sociable and more friendships are eventually created! I thank God for social media like twitter... cause there is where I get to know a lot of new friends. 

iPad App: Flipboard

I got hold of one iPad and been playing with it since then. It is similar to iPhone features but on a bigger screen and faster response time. I am blogging from my iPad to get the feel of it.

Flipboard is current a free application on iTunes and it does amazing things. You can link your Facebook and Twitter account to it. The presentation of it is simply amazing. It turns the twitter and facebook posting into a magazine layout. I love the whole new idea on this. I did a few print screen to show you. For those foe you who have iPad, download it now and I bet you will enjoy it we much we I do. It's good for people like me who loves social media and magazine layout. It's creative I must say.

Oldest Twitter User @IvyBean104

I keep getting complains from my mother and cousin that I spend too much time on social media like facebook and twitter. Even with those complains, I still pursue what I liked. You will be amaze with the fast and updated information you will receive and also not forgetting the amount of new and interesting friends too. 

Yesterday, I read a tweet about the oldest twitter user Ivy Bean dies at 104. I was amaze and inspired by her in a way. Social media doesn't limit to any particular age group or professions. She even have more followers than me! :-) I didn't have a chance to follow her while she was alive but just wanna share with you who missed out about this news. May you rest in peace, Ivy Bean. 

Best couple on Twitter!

Yesterday was cool! It's something I don't do but somehow I did! I meet up with Kelvin. Who is Kelvin , right? I got to know him via twitter and we have been twitting since then. Later I came to know that the world is so small!! His wife, Pamela, best friend is Melissa L. Mel was a friend that I have lost touch after those days in church. Boy, I am glad to be  connected with her again via twitter.

I am blessed by these people in so many ways! Thank God for having these three people in my life. 

Penang Twestival 2010

Twestival is an organization to raise fund for the Concern Worldwide. We, Penang Twestival is in town for the very first time. It will be held on the 25 March 2010 at OXO Cafelab at Bayan Lepas near to Eastin Hotel and Queensbay Mall. The event will start from 8pm onwards. From now till the 25 March 2010, we are looking for donations to raise funds to support this event. Just feel free to go the link and donate via Paypal and start donating from USD 1.00 only.

JenC Twitter Background

I was trying to keep myself busy and decided to do a simple design background for my twitter. Something I  haven't done before and I bored using the standard twitter background. On the other hand, I won't want to spend that kind of money to get someone to design it for me or purchase it off hand. So I decided to do it myself! Hehe .. sorry if it is not sharp enough or good enough. But I am happy for the first trial up for now. What do you think?

Introduction to JenC's Little Corner

Normally when it comes to telling people about myself, I will go blank. But I will make it a little more effort and share a thing or two about me! For those of you who know me, thank you for accepting the way I am. For those of you who don’t, you might just have to start learning to love me the way I am. Here is a little intro about myself…..
I am just another human being with lots of emotions to share and try to make another step forward in life. Blogging is not something new for me but I am just trying to make my blog different each time I re-start again. Some of you may ask, what do I mean re-start? Re-start to me is by starting something new and fresh after mistakes in life and I had deleted at least 3 blogs. This is just the way I want things to be. 
I have the passion of photography which is about more than a year now and still looking into many ways of improving myself. Things that I enjoy and love to shoot are all random. Besides that, I love everything that has to do with technology and they are like my darlings! With the new trend, I am a twitter and facebookholic!
